Life in Cathedral Close

Apartments

Cathedral Close contains twenty-three single and seven two bedroom apartments on three floors, all with either lift or stair-lift access. Each apartment is comprised of an entrance hall, bedroom(s), bathroom, and open plan living and kitchen area fitted with a refrigerator and electric cooker. Heating is provided by new state-of-the-art electric night storage heaters, which were installed in November 2018. New double-glazed sash windows have also been installed.

Apartments are unfurnished. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings to create a comfortable space that feels like home and reflects their individuality.

Unfortunately residents are not permitted to keep pets, but the Close has a therapy dog, ‘Cara’, and a resident cat, ‘Girle’. Birdwatchers will delight in the array of birds that seek refuge in our urban garden.

Facilities and Amenities

Communal facilities include:

  • Conservatory
  • Garden
  • Coin-operated laundry
  • Parking

The Close has a resident caretaker on site. We are a gated community, and have measures in place to provide for the safety and security of our residents.

Cathedral Close is centrally located in Waterford City and is adjacent to Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic churches. Shops, the library, transport amenities, People’s Park, leisure centre, major tourist attractions, and the Theatre Royal are only a short walk away. The area also contains a variety of restaurants and cafes, and a country market is held on Friday’s in Saint Olaf’s Hall.

Community

Residents are encouraged to continue pursuing their interests and hobbies while living in the Close. A number of communal activities are organised on site for anyone who may wish to participate. These include a Wednesday ‘Knit and Natter’ group with tea and home baking, a lottery syndicate, and other social events.
